About The Position

Spartech LLC, headquartered in Maryland Heights, Missouri is a leading manufacturing organization in the Custom Sheet & Roll Stock and Packaging industries with over a dozen locations throughout the United States. The Site Manager is responsible for effectively planning, directing and coordinating all activities for the operations at assigned plant. These activities include safety, environmental, quality, production and cost.

Requirements

  • BS/BA in Engineering or related technical discipline, manufacturing or related field or equivalent
  • Minimum ten years' experience in manufacturing environment, with minimum four years manufacturing or plant management experience
  • Minimum one year of process engineering experience
  • Lean Manufacturing and ISO standards training
  • Minimum three years' experience with labor relations
  • Minimum three years' experience with establishing budgets, financial tracking, and reporting of production operation
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of production processes, methods, and programs, as well as inventory management and warehousing
  • Knowledge of raw and other materials used at production facility(s) managed
  • Understanding of financial standards, budgets, and reporting
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 and 14001 standards and procedures, process improvement programs, and safety standards and regulations
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing concepts and procedures
  • Ability to successfully manage production line responsibilities through effective supervision of production managers/supervisors, lead persons, and other production staff
  • Understanding, and ability to develop, document and communicate production policies and procedures
  • Ability to read and interpret manufacturing instructions, drawings, schematics, blue prints, etc.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical functions, and calculate figures, percentages, discounts, etc.
  • Ability to prioritize and plan work effectively, and develop and execute project plans
  • Effectively interface with all levels and types of internal and external customers, verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to effectively resolve problems, utilizing good judgment and creativity.
  • Ability to work in, build, and maintain a strong team environment.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.

Nice To Haves

  • preferably in production environment similar to Spartech’s
  • preferably in union environment
  • Experience using ERP or similar manufacturing system software preferred
  • Understanding of Oracle manufacturing systems or similar ERP system preferred
  • Very good understanding of all elements of the Spartech HSMS preferred
  • preferably with products similar to those produced at facility

Responsibilities

  • Provides direction, ensures resources and manages programs to ensure the plant's safety and environmental performance meets established goals.
  • Develops and implements plans to reduce waste, meet applicable regulatory standards and handles emergency situations that may arise at the Site.
  • Develop a plant operating plan that is consistent with and supports the overall business plan.
  • Determines what resources are required to successfully implement the operating plan and then secure them.
  • Ensures standards for product quality, equipment and operator performance are maintained and that cost-effective technology is used to maximize production.
  • Develops capital plan to improve plant operations.
  • Ensures plant performs at or below annual budgeted cost levels.
  • Develops employees through training, involvement programs and other programs to create a strong team environment.
  • Identifies develop opportunities and provides subordinates opportunities to meet career development plans.
  • Represents Company to the external community in a professional and positive manner.
  • Other projects and duties as assigned.
