Plant Manager (Arizona)

Fluidstack•Phoenix, AZ
•$320,000 - $386,000•Onsite

About The Position

Fluidstack is seeking a Plant Manager for their Arizona facility. This role is crucial for scaling manufacturing operations and building civilization-scale infrastructure for AI. The Plant Manager will own all production output, drive continuous improvement, ensure site readiness, and build and develop the on-site manufacturing team. The company emphasizes speed, scale, and a culture of autonomy, urgency, first principles thinking, and a passion for building something that matters. The manufacturing team is focused on scaling manufacturing capacity and capability, building and operating a manufacturing ecosystem, and acting as an engine for growth.

Requirements

  • Have run a high-volume discrete manufacturing facility end to end and can point to a specific output record: units per shift, defect rate, on-time delivery, or throughput improvement you personally drove.
  • Managed a large on-site workforce through a third-party staffing provider and held that partner accountable to production and quality targets, not just headcount.
  • Taken a facility from construction handover through first production to steady-state output and can walk through how you handled the ramp, what broke, and how you fixed it.
  • Design production systems rather than inherit them: have personally set takt times, balanced lines, written standard work, and built visual management boards for a real facility.
  • OSHA 1910, NFPA 70E, and environmental permit compliance are active parts of your daily management system, not a separate function you hand off.
  • Build the culture on your floor through standard work and clear escalation paths, not through personality, and your supervisors know exactly what is expected and what triggers an escalation to you.

Nice To Haves

  • Structural steel fabrication, heavy equipment assembly, or modular construction manufacturing.
  • Lean or Six Sigma Black Belt.
  • Experience commissioning robotic weld cells, CNC processing lines, or AGV material handling systems.

Responsibilities

  • Own all production output at the Phoenix-area facility: throughput rate, takt adherence, quality escape rate, line uptime, and on-time shipment against customer delivery commitments.
  • Drive continuous improvement across all production lines, including root-cause analysis and corrective action on every throughput or quality deviation, from the line floor up.
  • Hold final product acceptance authority: nothing ships without your sign-off or explicit delegation, and you own the workforce interface with the on-site staffing partner to enforce that standard.
  • Own site readiness across tooling, fixturing, material flow, equipment, utilities, and floor layout, including all contractor and vendor relationships and full OSHA, NFPA 70E, and air quality permit compliance.
  • Build and develop the on-site manufacturing team, including production managers, supervisors, quality, and facilities staff, and own workforce planning across headcount ramp, shift structure, skill mix, and certification tracking.

Benefits

  • Competitive total compensation package (salary + equity)
  • Retirement or pension plan, in line with local norms
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Generous PTO policy, in line with local norms
  • Equity in the form of restricted stock units
  • Commitment to pay equity and transparency
