  • Bachelor's degree in related field or five years plant/general management experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Exposure with managing union and non-union environments
  • Working knowledge of budgets and financial statements.
  • Background with manufacturing methods, process improvement programs and procedures required.
  • Basic computer experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • The military equivalent will be recognized in lieu of education and/or experience.
  • Basic mathematical skills, addition, subtraction, multiplication and converting fractions into decimals.
  • Ability to read a tape measure, micrometer and caliper accurately.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and manage all plant operations for production, employee safety, maintenance, quality, and shipping and receiving.
  • Coordinate plant activities through planning with departmental managers to ensure manufacturing objectives are met in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Develop, coordinate, and direct all efforts to promote safety throughout the organization.
  • Develop and control the budget through active planning and understanding of the plant P&L.
  • Implement cost-effective systems of control over capital, operating expenditures, manpower, wages, and salaries.
  • Establish and monitor overall plant performance for production and quality standards.
  • Control and minimize labor overtime, premium freight, and repair expenses.
  • Maintain existing plant facilities and equipment; replace or make adjustments when necessary.
  • Investigate and recommend new equipment or process improvements.
  • Provide leadership and training to accomplish company goals and objectives.
  • Implement and maintain preventative maintenance programs.
  • Incorporate shop floor organization and plant cleanliness among plant personnel.
  • Provide direction, development, and leadership to all supervision.
  • Serve as the onsite contact for government agencies, landlords, and various other vendors.
  • Actively participate with Regional Sales Management to develop and manage the Regional Operating Unit into a team-oriented environment.
  • Wear all required PPE while in the manufacturing facility.
  • Monitor the activities of all employees and provide feedback and discipline to promote a safe workplace.
  • Oversee the development and organization of all safety-related documentation.
  • Ensure that all required safety-related training is conducted.
  • Develop and implement employee programs to promote safe employee behavior.
  • Audit equipment and the shop floor for safety-related improvements.
  • Supervise all plant management and personnel.
