About The Position

The Plant Manager will develop and monitor short and long-term plans and operating budgets to ensure the plant effectively implements strategic plans for growth through quality part manufacturing while providing a safe work environment. This role directs operating staff across various departments including engineering, manufacturing, maintenance, tooling, quality assurance, and logistics to ensure timely delivery of error-free products and services. The Plant Manager is responsible for assuring continued customer satisfaction and profitability by planning, implementing, and monitoring continuous improvement processes to enhance product quality and operating efficiencies. They will stay informed of market demands, competitor activities, and customer trends to adapt operational plans, utilizing all available corporate resources. Maintaining a safe work environment through the implementation and monitoring of corporate policies and procedures related to employee satisfaction, health, safety, and environment, and promoting 5S activities is crucial. Accurate and timely financial and inventory reporting is required to measure performance against budget and established metrics. Collaboration with Process and Tooling Engineering teams is essential for the successful launch and takeover of new products, requiring the provision of operational resources and active participation in meetings and reviews. Other job duties may be assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • B.A. or B.S. degree from accredited college or university.
  • 10 to 15 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in progressive manufacturing assignments.
  • Exposure to high volume manufacturing, ISO /TS requirements, Toyota production systems including 5 S and use of Kanban and MRP II Class A systems.
  • Manages subordinate supervisors who supervise a total of 15-500 employees in the Production, Maintenance, Quality Assurance, Tooling, Engineering and Logistics departments.
  • Responsible for the day to day overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of respective unit and its employees.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable local, state and federal laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn including but not limited to: eyes, ear, foot and/or other protective devices as required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and monitor both short and long-term plans and operating budgets to assure the plant continues to implement their strategic plans to grow through effective manufacturing of quality parts while providing a safe work environment for all employees.
  • Direct the operating staff of the respective plant departments in the activities of engineering, manufacturing, maintenance, tooling, quality assurance and logistics; to assure timely delivery of error free products and services to the customers.
  • Assure continued customer satisfaction and profitability by planning, implementing and monitoring continuous improvement processes to improve both quality of products (reduced PPM’s) produced and improved operating efficiencies.
  • Remaining abreast of new market demands, trends and activities of competitors and customers to anticipate adjustments in operational plans, utilizing all corporate resources available.
  • Maintain a safe work environment for all employees and visitors by implementing and monitoring all corporate policies and procedures relative to employee satisfaction, health, safety, environment and promoting 5 S activities.
  • Assure accurate and timely reporting by monitoring financial and inventory documentation as required for end of period basis to measure performance to budget and established metrics.
  • Work with Process and Tooling Engineering teams to successfully launch new and takeover products. Provide operational resources to support all launches and actively participate in meetings and reviews.
