About The Position

Responsible for ensuring that workers are safe in their working environment and that machines are running safely and working efficiently. The Chesterman Company is an independent Coca-Cola Bottler with its corporate office in Sioux City, Iowa, making quality beverages for the Midwest since 1872 and supplying them from 14 distribution centers across Iowa, Nebraska, and South Dakota.

Requirements

  • High-School Diploma/GED
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Minimum of 1 - 3 years' experience in related field with proven industry experience, beverage experience a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to read and utilize prints and drawings of components and mechanical systems.
  • Strong mechanical skills and technical aptitude.
  • Demonstrated an organized, logical, and detailed method of troubleshooting.
  • Flexibility and ability to work overtime, weekends and holidays to support production needs.
  • The drive to learn new skills and to investigate when you do not know something yourself.
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced environment with limited supervision.
  • Must be able to read, speak, and write in English to be able to communicate with customers, coworkers, and supervisor.

Nice To Haves

  • Electrical knowledge of circuits and motor controls is preferred.
  • Basic welding and fabricating skills are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performance of duties assigned with focus on safety, quality (of product and task) and Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Repair and maintain high speed production equipment such as fillers, case packers, conveyor systems, palletizers, water purification/filtration systems and other production equipment.
  • Practice safe work habits.
  • Follow proper lock out tag out procedures as required.
  • Complete all OSHA required training as required and correct any unsafe conditions as necessary.
  • Respond to calls from line supervisors or operators to repair equipment as needed.
  • Perform package change-overs on equipment as required.
  • Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic devices, hydraulic systems, mechanical and electrical problems in a timely manner.
  • Execute work orders on time as assigned and in priority order.
  • Continuous improvement in speed and accuracy of product changeovers and preventative maintenance plans.
  • Able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate and plant safety standards and with applicable regulatory requirements while following the company’s Good Manufacturing Practices.
