About The Position

Strescon Limited is currently seeking a motivated Plant Maintenance Technician to join our team at our precast concrete facility in Bedford, Nova Scotia. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled trades professional who enjoys hands-on work in a dynamic industrial environment. As a Plant Maintenance Technician, you will play a key role in keeping our plant operating safely, efficiently, and reliably. At Strescon, we value our people and invest in their success. Established in 1963, Strescon Limited has grown to become the largest precast, pre-stressed concrete manufacturer in Eastern Canada. Its primary market covers the Atlantic Provinces and the New England region of the United States. Strescon manufactures a wide range of both architectural and structural precast/prestressed concrete products including bridge girders, wall panels, complete parking garages, hollow-core planking, piling and deck slabs. Strescon presently has two facilities: 70,000 sq ft. in Saint John, New Brunswick and 50,000 sq. ft. in Bedford, Nova Scotia. In addition to our engineered precast facilities for custom components, Strescon also operates a 32,000 sq. ft. facility in Saint John which manufactures standard concrete products for engineered drainage systems, such as pipe, manholes and catch basins.

Requirements

  • 1–5 years' experience in a heavy industrial environment
  • Strong electrical background with PLC troubleshooting experience
  • Ability to read parts diagrams, equipment manuals and schematics
  • Hands on experience with hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Comfortable performing physically demanding work (heavy lifting, working at heights, dusty environments, etc.)
  • Flexibility to work shift schedules and overtime as required
  • Reliable transportation to and from work

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working on overhead cranes is an asset
  • Provincial certification as an industrial or construction electrician would be considered an asset
  • Journeyman Industrial Mechanic/Millwright or equivalent work experience is preferred
  • Welding tickets / experience welding would also be considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical and mechanical maintenance on plant equipment and systems
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and PLC systems
  • Work collaboratively with third party maintenance contractors
  • Complete equipment inspections and follow preventative maintenance schedules
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all work performed
  • Support plant upgrades, improvements, and special projects
  • Perform additional duties as required to support daily operations
  • Maintain and repair mixers, batch plant equipment, conveyors, hydraulic systems, and motors
  • Assist with installation and commissioning of new equipment and required infrastructure
  • Help manage spare‑parts inventory and keep the maintenance shop/tools organized
  • Perform minor facility repairs (e.g., structural, plumbing, basic electrical) as needed
