In years past, our award-winning water production facility treated 5 billion gallons of drinking water for an average daily demand of over 13 million gallons per day while our two NACWA Gold award winning wastewater treatment plants treated a combined average of 6.4 million gallons per day. Our Plant Maintenance group works to make sure our Drinking Water Production, Wastewater Treatment, and Environmental Lab are fully functioning so that we consistently meet or exceed all federal and state regulations while delivering exceptional services to City of Olathe residents. As a Plant Maintenance Technician, you’ll play a key role in supporting the City’s Water Plant, Wastewater Plants, and Environmental Lab by maintaining essential infrastructure, ensuring operational efficiency, and upholding quality and safety standards. The Plant Maintenance Technician I employs entry-level mechanical skills to maintain and repair industrial equipment and facilities essential for drinking water production, wastewater treatment and related infrastructure. Committed to working safely, they execute scheduled preventive maintenance across operations applying attention to detail to identify and report potential maintenance issues. Under the supervision of experienced team members, they troubleshoot and repair increasingly complex systems. The Plant Maintenance Technician I is the first level in a three-level career progression of Plant Maintenance Technician I, II and III.
