About The Position

Envest Corp. is seeking a skilled and self-motivated Plant Maintenance Technician to support the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of our plant facility. This role is responsible for preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, fabrication, inspections, and documentation across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, process, building, and plant support systems. The Plant Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining plant equipment, buildings, systems, and related infrastructure in accordance with Envest policies, health and safety requirements, technical standards, environmental obligations, and applicable regulatory requirements. The role supports uptime, operational reliability, preventative maintenance, continuous improvement, and safe day-to-day plant operations. The successful candidate will be a hands-on, safety-focused maintenance professional with strong mechanical aptitude, practical troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work independently in an industrial plant environment. The role requires sound judgment, attention to detail, timely escalation of issues, accurate recordkeeping, and a commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and compliant workplace.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid Ontario driver’s licence and reliable transportation required due to site-based work requirements.
  • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of maintenance experience in an industrial, manufacturing, agricultural processing, power generation, renewable energy, biogas, utility, or comparable plant environment.
  • Experience maintaining and troubleshooting rotating equipment, gearboxes, motors, pumps, conveyors, bearings, pneumatic systems, hydraulic systems, and related plant equipment.
  • Experience with welding, fabrication, equipment installation, and general building or facility maintenance.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance programs, work order systems, maintenance records, and equipment inspection routines.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and practical troubleshooting ability.
  • Ability to diagnose equipment, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and operational issues independently and determine when escalation is required.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, prints, manuals, technical documents, schematics, and equipment bulletins.
  • Basic welding, fabrication, rigging, alignment, and mechanical repair skills.
  • Computer literacy, including Microsoft Word, Excel, company email, maintenance systems, digital tracking tools, and OEM software programs.
  • Ability to complete accurate inspection, maintenance, production, and safety documentation.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a college, trade school, apprenticeship, or technical program in industrial maintenance, millwright, mechanical, electrical, diesel, gas engine, or related field is preferred.
  • Industrial Mechanic Millwright, Truck and Coach Technician, Heavy Equipment Technician, or related trade certification is considered an asset.
  • Forklift, elevated work platform, working at heights, confined space, lockout/tagout, welding, first aid, or other relevant safety certifications are considered assets.
  • Experience with SCADA and PLC-based control systems, VFDs, sensors, alarms, and OEM software is an asset.
  • Experience troubleshooting systems ranging from low-voltage control circuits to industrial power systems, within training and legal authorization, is an asset.
  • Experience working in a safety-sensitive industrial environment with strong health, safety, environmental, and housekeeping expectations.
  • General knowledge of PLCs, VFDs, SCADA systems, instrumentation, and minor programming or user screen adjustments is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance on plant equipment, building systems, tools, and related infrastructure.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, install, align, adjust, and maintain mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, conveyor, pump, gearbox, motor, bearing, valve, and process-related systems within the scope of training and qualifications.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, electric meters, material handling equipment, and maintenance software safely and effectively.
  • Identify equipment defects, abnormal operating conditions, reliability concerns, and potential failures; take appropriate action and escalate urgent issues promptly.
  • Complete work orders, maintenance checklists, inspection records, requisitions, and other required documentation accurately and on time.
  • Support maintenance planning by identifying parts, materials, tools, and contractor requirements required to complete work safely and efficiently.
  • Assist with equipment installations, plant modifications, commissioning activities, improvement projects, and new construction or building upgrades as required.
  • Fabricate, weld, modify, and repair equipment, guards, brackets, supports, and related components as required and within competency.
  • Read and interpret manuals, drawings, schematics, prints, technical bulletins, OEM documentation, and equipment specifications.
  • Support reliable plant operations by monitoring equipment performance and responding to operational maintenance needs in a timely manner.
  • Conduct equipment pre-start inspections and routine checks to confirm equipment is operating safely and within expected parameters.
  • Assist with process monitoring, sampling, material handling, housekeeping, contamination prevention, and hygiene requirements where applicable.
  • Support SCADA, PLC, VFD, OEM software, and digital tracking systems by monitoring, entering required data, identifying alarms or irregularities, and escalating control system issues as required.
  • Coordinate with operations, management, vendors, contractors, and other team members to minimize downtime and complete maintenance priorities.
  • Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, applicable regulations, Envest policies and procedures, site rules, and safe work practices.
  • Participate in hazard identification, workplace inspections, job planning, incident reporting, corrective actions, toolbox talks, and safety huddles.
  • Use required personal protective equipment and follow lockout/tagout, working at heights, confined space, hot work, electrical safety, machine guarding, and contractor safety requirements as applicable to the work being performed.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas, including shops, tool storage areas, equipment rooms, and plant operating areas.
  • Identify safety, environmental, and compliance concerns; take immediate steps to control hazards where safe to do so and escalate matters promptly.
  • Support environmental, health, and safety compliance by completing required inspections, checklists, logs, online training, and documentation.
  • Use company email, maintenance systems, digital tracking tools, and required reporting processes on a regular basis.
  • Enter required maintenance, inspection, production, and equipment data accurately and within required timelines.
  • Participate in scheduled safety huddles, maintenance meetings, training, and operational handover discussions.
  • Communicate clearly with leaders and team members regarding work status, risks, priorities, delays, parts requirements, and operational impacts.
  • Demonstrate reliability, professionalism, accountability, and respect when working independently, with the team, and with contractors or vendors.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned, consistent with the nature and level of the role.
