About The Position

The Maintenance Technician keeps OFPC's equipment, machinery, and facility systems running safely and reliably — from routine preventive maintenance to troubleshooting mechanical, pneumatic, and automated equipment. This hands-on role is key to minimizing downtime and keeping production running smoothly across our 88-year history as a family-owned food production company.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 2+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, and electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of OSHA CFR 1910 regulations.
  • Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced production environment and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Able to work independently and carry assignments through to completion within established guidelines.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or technical school training preferred.
  • food manufacturing experience a plus.
  • Knowledge of FSIS requirements and food safety programs preferred.
  • Knowledge of egg processing operations and equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on production, processing, and packaging equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems on plant equipment.
  • Assist in diagnosing malfunctions with PLC-controlled and automated equipment; escalate complex automation and electrical issues to qualified personnel as needed.
  • Install, set up, and calibrate new machinery and equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
  • Perform minor electrical tasks including replacing outlets, switches, fuses, and basic wiring connections under the direction of a licensed electrician or manager when required.
  • Perform pump and valve repairs, and TIG/sanitary welding as required.
  • Log and track work orders, parts usage, and equipment history in the Company's maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO), job hazard analysis (JHA), and confined space procedures on all maintenance work.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, operating manuals, and other technical documentation.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with GMP and food safety standards.
  • Respond to and prioritize emergency repair requests to minimize production downtime.
  • Participate in ongoing training on new equipment, safety procedures, and maintenance techniques.
  • Coordinate professionally with outside contractors and service providers.
  • Take on additional assignments and support other departments as needed.
