About The Position

See's Candies is seeking experienced Maintenance Mechanics for the Plant Maintenance Department at their El Camino location. The ideal candidate will be a team player with a willingness to learn and contribute to the company's reputation for quality and customer service. This role involves maintaining industrial production, processing, and building systems to support plant goals and production targets.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in a manufacturing environment performing maintenance and electrical repairs on equipment.
  • Ability to work with manuals, P&IDs, and electrical schematics.
  • Familiarity with AC/DC motor controls, ranging from 480VAC to 24VDC.
  • Expertise in troubleshooting and repairing motors, conveyors, pneumatics, and production equipment.
  • Ability to determine the root cause of operational errors and implement action plans.
  • Ability to determine the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
  • Ability to install equipment, machinery, wiring, and/or programs to meet specifications.
  • Possess math aptitude for measurement, calibrations, and specifications.
  • Ability to determine and solve technical problems in the field.
  • Ability to work with a variety of hand tools and power tools.
  • Must understand Shaw Bakers, HACCP processes and auditing, and GMPs.
  • Familiarity with NEC, OSHA, ANSI, and machine safety standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of PLC logic and hardware is highly desired.
  • Familiarity with VFDs.
  • Knowledge of layout and installation of conduit is highly desired.
  • Ability to perform various types of welding such as Tig and Mig.
  • Experience in operating industrial mobile equipment such as forklifts, scissor lifts, etc.
  • Positive communication skills.
  • Good knowledge of various industrial production equipment used in the plant.
  • Experience in performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
  • Experience in watching performance indicators to make sure a machine is working as designed.

Responsibilities

  • Safely install, operate, adjust, and maintain industrial production, processing, and building systems.
  • Provide technical support to the production team, including start-up assistance, operator training, equipment center-lining, and instrumentation calibration.
  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance activities to support reliability-based maintenance.
  • Conduct root cause failure analysis and host Gemba walks.
  • Support continuous improvement and lean activities.
  • Collaborate with Operator Technicians for troubleshooting and maintenance of mechanical and electrical power distribution and machine control systems.
  • Perform PLC troubleshooting and program editing as required.
  • Install, repair, and test electrical/mechanical systems, including HVAC, lighting, PLC control systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
  • Repair, install, replace, and test electrical circuits and equipment using hand tools and testing instruments.
  • Isolate defects in wiring, switches, and other elements of electrical systems, including setting up and repairing electronic sorting equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and evaluate/create new preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Create work orders and order required parts.
  • Provide guidance for contractors engaged in outside services.
  • Perform welding and metal fabrication on steel and stainless steel for installations and repairs.
  • Read manuals for equipment installations.
  • Effectively transfer technical knowledge to operations personnel.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned.
