About The Position

Performs assigned tasks issued by Maintenance Supervisor, Chief Operator or Water Resources Director. Ensure proper work methods and safety procedures are followed. Maintains inventory of essential parts, materials, and tools. Completes work orders for preventive maintenance and repairs. Acquires quotes on materials, parts, and subcontracted work. Will be required to be on-call after hours, weekends, and holidays. Will be required to respond after hours for waterline breaks and/or emergency repairs. Will be required to drive a City vehicle for City business use. Performs related work as required.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of tools, equipment, parts, and products utilized
  • Knowledge of repair techniques and methods
  • Knowledge of construction
  • Knowledge of modern office procedures and methods including computers and applicable software
  • Knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of employee supervision
  • Skills in mechanical repairs and operations
  • Skills in planning, organization, and time management
  • Ability to comply with directions from management
  • Ability to make informed decisions and demonstrate sound judgement
  • Ability to meet schedules and deadlines of the work
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to maintain good planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to give directions to and gain compliance from assigned staff.
  • Ability to perform strenuous work and routine work.
  • Ability to maintain a valid North Carolina Driver License and a good driving record.
  • Ability to project a positive and professional image of the City of Henderson.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to comply with all City of Henderson's policies and procedures.
  • Ability to maintain good health and physical condition to permit the full performance of the duties of this position.
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • One year of experience in utility maintenance, mechanical troubleshooting, and maintenance of water treatment plants
