About The Position

This is work of a supervisory nature in directing physical plant operation and maintenance programs of considerable variety at a large state institution. Responsibilities include coordinating building, grounds, mechanical systems and motor vehicle operations and maintenance programs and managing a large workforce of trades and plant operation personnel.

Requirements

  • Five (5) years’ experience in managing the maintenance and repair of a physical plant to include experience in the building and mechanical trades and/or the operation and maintenance of high-pressure steam heating plants.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures that employees are following necessary policies and procedures in order to ensure operations conform to applicable standards such as those established by JCAHO, DHS, Medicare and Medicaid.
  • Respond to after-hours’ emergency calls as needed.
  • Maintain availability to report to DDPC during emergency situations.
  • Directs and oversees grounds maintenance including snow removal and transport operations in order to provide a safe environment and meet institutional transportation requirements.
  • Directs, monitors, and inspects operation and maintenance of heating, water treatment, life safety systems, door access systems, and sewerage disposal plants in order to ensure adherence to operation, maintenance, and repair standards.
  • Prepares plans and specifications for minor work and schedules maintenance, repairs, and alteration projects in order to meet institutional needs and maintain physical plant.
  • Coordinates with all hospital departments to ensure the surveillance system is meeting the needs of the hospital.
