About The Position

This role is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and organization within the plant and distribution areas. Key duties include waste management, including emptying trash and recycling bins, disposing of broken materials, and ensuring proper handling of hazardous items. The position also involves operating cleaning equipment like sweepers and floor scrubbers, maintaining inventory of water stations, and assisting with ad hoc tasks as assigned by management. A critical aspect of the role is ensuring safety by promptly cleaning spills and reporting unsafe conditions.

Requirements

  • Ability to work an 8-hour non-rotating shift, starting AM.
  • Must be able to report unsafe storage areas to a supervisor.
  • Must be able to clean up oil spills or leaks from lift trucks immediately.
  • Must be able to place sharp objects in a proper safe container.
  • Must be able to fill out a checklist and turn it in to the Supervisor at the end of the shift.
  • Must be able to pass on incomplete task information to the following shift.
  • Must be able to maintain gas for lift trucks when needed.
  • Must be able to lock out and clean out equipment during plant break times.
  • Must be able to clean out from under dumps and conveyors along with other equipment after appropriately Locked Out based on equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with operating a sweeper.
  • Experience with operating a floor scrubber.
  • Experience with baling and banding materials.

Responsibilities

  • Empty trash cans at the front of buildings and inside the plant entrance.
  • Maintain bottled water at water stations and prepare Gatorade for Popsicles.
  • Check and empty recycle centers in the break room.
  • Check and remove trash and recycle from around dock doors.
  • Dispose of broken wood, broken pallets, and unwanted plywood from the yard to a recycle bin or dumpster.
  • Report unsafe storage areas to a supervisor (e.g., leaning pallets, damaged walls).
  • Clean up oil spills or leaks from lift trucks immediately to prevent slips and trips.
  • Place sharp objects (blades, nails, etc.) in a proper safe container.
  • Check dumpsters and empty them when needed.
  • Check trash compactor levels and advise the Supervisor when emptying is needed.
  • Run the sweeper in the plant.
  • Empty trash, remove damage, and clear empty pallets and cardboard each shift.
  • Check trash cans twice a shift at the end of aisles throughout the plant.
  • Check MRM satellite locations twice a shift and empty as needed.
  • Walk aisles and bulk zones picking up trash, empty pallets, and damage, and dispose of them properly.
  • Maintain the MRM Area (bale and band as needed).
  • Fill out the checklist and turn it in to the Supervisor at the end of the shift.
  • Pass on incomplete task information to the following shift.
  • Load out scrap pallets, cardboard, cores, and plastic on the designated trailer (check each shift).
  • Maintain gas for lift trucks when needed.
  • Run the floor scrubber twice a week.
  • Load out recycled cans and bottles as needed.
  • Help clean up non-conformance areas as needed.
  • Assist with ad hoc tasks assigned by Management.
  • Clean out the sweeper daily.
  • Lock out and clean out equipment during plant break times.
  • Clean out from under dumps and conveyors along with other equipment after appropriately Locked Out based on equipment.
  • Sweep and pick up wood/trash out of hard surface locations.
