About The Position

The Plant HR Specialist supports the Plant HR team in fostering a positive work environment and ensuring the plant operates as “One Corning” in alignment with Corning’s values. This role proactively addresses employee concerns, promotes open communication, and fosters a culture of respect and inclusion. The Plant HR Specialist also helps implement global HR processes and programs within the plant.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Organizational Development, Labor Relations, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of HR experience; HR generalist/specialist experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Demonstrated success implementing global HR processes, programs, or initiatives.
  • Working knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Strong knowledge of HR practices, processes, and employment laws and regulations.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize competing demands and meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in managing HR data, records, and documentation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism, navigate sensitive situations, and build trust with employees at all levels.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong listening skills.
  • Ability to deliver difficult feedback with professionalism and empathy.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict effectively.
  • Ability to influence others and make sound recommendations with confidence.
  • Ability to lead meetings with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Owns specific HR initiatives that support effective plant operations through the development and delivery of HR programs, including training and communications.
  • Identifies employee value proposition issues that may impact turnover and partners with the Plant HR Manager to implement improvement actions.
  • Partners with plant leadership to develop and execute action plans that strengthen engagement, communication, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Maintains a visible presence on the plant floor to understand employee sentiment and organizational dynamics.
  • Manages and mitigates employee concerns by supporting supervisors and leaders in creating an open environment for discussion and resolution.
  • Resolves employee relations issues in a fair, consistent, and timely manner while balancing employee needs with business objectives.
  • Coaches plant management on leadership practices that foster a positive, respectful, and high-performing work environment.
  • Uses employee feedback and insights to drive continuous improvement in retention and engagement.
  • Leads initiatives that enhance the employee experience across the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, employee involvement, and recognition.
