Plant & Facilities Electrical Project Engineer
About The Position
The Plant & Facilities Electrical Project Engineer directs, coordinates, supports, and executes electrical engineering projects that improve and maintain company infrastructure, equipment, utilities, and facilities. The position may support projects at the Chilton, Wisconsin, or Manitowoc, Wisconsin, production plants. The role manages electrical and automation capital projects from concept through commissioning, supports plant automation and controls, and helps ensure electrical safety and regulatory compliance. It also identifies opportunities to improve equipment reliability, energy efficiency, and operational performance, and supports continuous improvement and sustainability initiatives. The engineer must follow government and company safety, sanitation, GMP, food safety, quality, and SQF policies and regulations. Other duties may be assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in an Electrical Engineering field.
- 7–10 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience managing engineering or capital improvement projects.
- Experience in food, beverage, ingredient, pharmaceutical, or process manufacturing.
- Knowledge of Allen-Bradley-based control systems, FactoryTalk, and RS Logix.
- Experience with SCADA systems, process instrumentation, and industrial networking.
- Knowledge of sanitary manufacturing environments and food safety requirements.

Responsibilities
- Manage electrical and automation capital projects from concept through commissioning.
- Develop project scopes, budgets, schedules, and technical specifications.
- Coordinate contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders during project execution.
- Review electrical drawings, panel designs, and control narratives.
- Oversee equipment installations, start-ups, and commissioning activities.
- Support and improve plant automation systems, including PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, and industrial networks.
- Assist with developing, modifying, and troubleshooting control logic and process automation programs.
- Collaborate with operations personnel to optimize manufacturing processes through automation and control improvements.
- Incorporate cybersecurity best practices into industrial control systems.
- Support process data collection, reporting, and system integration initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes, standards, and company policies.
- Support electrical safety programs, including lockout/tagout, arc flash prevention, and electrical hazard assessments.
- Participate in Process Hazard Analyses (PHA), Management of Change (MOC), and risk assessments.
- Maintain documentation and records required for audits and regulatory compliance.
- Promote safety and continuous improvement throughout the facility.
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, energy efficiency, and operational performance.
- Lead or participate in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, TPM, or other continuous improvement initiatives.
- Analyze production and maintenance data to identify trends and recommend improvements.
- Support sustainability and energy management initiatives.
- Follow government and company safety, sanitation, GMP, food safety, quality, and SQF policies and regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
