About The Position

The Plant Engineering Manager leads and directs all maintenance and engineering functions at the plant site. Responsibilities include directing the engineering function and maintenance activities, implementing and monitoring preventative maintenance (PM) programs, and developing capital projects for continuous improvement of plant facilities. This role coordinates all modifications, additions, and repair projects within the plant, including those managed by outside contractors and corporate staff. The manager supervises and directs the scheduling of hourly and salaried personnel in maintenance and labor functions, including skilled journeymen performing mechanical and electrical maintenance and repairs. Additionally, the role directs environmental activities related to air, water, hazardous, and solid waste, ensuring compliance with governmental agencies. The position also focuses on establishing a safe and healthy environment, striving for zero accidents, and complying with regulations. Training for apprentices and updating journeymen on safety and skills is also a key responsibility. Administrative activities for effective department management, including fostering positive working relationships with plant employees, the union, other departments, and corporate, are essential.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field
  • Five (5) years of experience in manufacturing with exposure and knowledge of environmental compliance
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a team-based environment
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills
  • Effective planning and organizational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to travel up to 5%

  • Previous supervisory or management experience of a technical team
  • Previous experience with CMMS

Responsibilities

  • Leads and directs all maintenance and engineering functions at the plant site.

  • Directs the environmental activities associated with areas such as air, water, hazardous, and solid waste, and complies with appropriate governmental agencies.
  • Assists in the establishment of a safe and healthy environment throughout the facilities, always striving for zero accidents and complying with governmental regulations.
  • Establishes and assists with the administration of training for apprentices' safety and updating journeymen as necessary.
  • Performs administrative activities necessary for the effective management of the department, including establishing effective working relationships with plant employees, the union, other departments, and corporate.
