About The Position

The main object and purpose of this position consist in providing technical support to operational teams by suggesting opportunities for process improvement as well as refurbishment projects in production plants, while respecting safety, reliability and efficiency of equipment. The incumbent ensures that projects are properly executed to meet production objectives, while promoting ALC's quality and safety objectives. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering required
  • Must be able to wear personal safety equipment, including hardhat, safety glasses, safety shoes, and flame resistant clothing

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of experience in an industrial production facility in the role of plant engineer or other similar plant operations role; utilities, air gas, chemical, or refinery production experience preferred
  • Able to wear FRC clothing and other PPE
  • Advanced project management and interpersonal skills to create cross-functional alignment.
  • Exceptional communication skills, specifically in developing action plans to ensure accountability and follow-through.

Responsibilities

  • Provide visible HSE leadership to site technicians and actively support and promote the Life Critical Safety system (LCS)
  • Support and maintain all aspects of Health, Safety, Environmental and Regulatory Compliance
  • Operates facility in compliance with all Air Liquide policies
  • Work to achieve our goal of “Zero Accidents” by taking a proactive, guiding role in safety.
  • Keep plant hazard analysis current and display thorough knowledge of possible hazards and associated safeguards.
  • Compliance with EIS requirements.
  • Ensure all incidents are reported and investigated and corrective actions are completed
  • Complete assigned action items from audits
  • Approve critical work permits (hot work, confined space, etc.)
  • Key contributor to site Safe Work Permit (SWP) and Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) Programs
  • Support the operations of 2 production units at the Port Neches facility producing nitrogen, oxygen and argon to ensure safe, reliable, high quality, and efficient supply of product to the customer
  • Perform process troubleshooting.
  • Identify and recommend process changes and plant projects to improve plant HSE, reliability and efficiency
  • Support the operations with engineering support ranging including MOC creation, small project management, and action item completion.
  • Provide regulatory training and maintain required regulatory documentation (ISO documentation, RMP, MOC, etc.)
  • Guide and maintain Key Operating Documents. Maintain updated red-lines at all times. Display detailed understanding of content and significance of each document
  • Ensure GT's are understood and followed by the plant staff
  • Ensure operating procedures are followed and updated as needed
  • Partner with the Reliability Center to execute predictive and preventive maintenance to safeguard plant continuity and eliminate unplanned maintenance
  • Partner with the Reliability Team to execute planned maintenance and unexpected events.
  • Coordinates, schedules, and delivers certain maintenance activities for the site.
  • Foster and maintain high housekeeping standards
  • Assist in developing plant budget needs
  • Develop cost and economic justification for capital projects
  • Develop and execute capital project scope, cost, and schedule as assigned within time and budget requirements
  • Identify and implement opportunities to reduce costs within delegated authorization
  • Utilize national purchasing agreements and frame agreements
  • Assist with training new technicians
  • Provide thoughtful, constructive input to management decisions and actively support those decisions.
  • Promote and ensure adherence to administrative and operational policies and procedures.
  • Complete Personal Development System goals as defined in annual review
  • On call nights, weekends and holidays as required
  • Occasional travel – typically 1 to 4 trips per year
