About The Position

The Plant Engineer is responsible for providing technical support to maintain and improve operations and facilities.

Requirements

A strong knowledge of manufacturing process equipment is required.

Working knowledge of process control systems and statistical process analysis.
Assists in writing capital project requests, creating project scopes for bids and obtaining vendor quotes. Manages projects in a timely manner and within budget, coordinates efforts with contractors and onsite personnel.
Tests newly installed equipment to ensure contract specifications are met and proper operating conditions are understood by personnel. Trains employees on use of such equipment as appropriate.
Must provide mechanical, electrical and instrumentation technical support to plant and other company facilities as needed.
Responsible for providing technical support to the Maintenance department on 24/7 basis.
Bending, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, kneeling, sitting stand, walk, kneel, stoop, squat, pull, push, climb, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, and see and standing (occasionally) for long periods of time.
The essential duties of this position require moderate to heavy lifting and carrying.
Prolonged periods of sitting on a forklift or other warehouse equipment.
Exposure to moderate noise levels, vibrations, and bright lights; and exposure to dust, fumes, and gases; and all climate types including hot and cold temperatures, humidity, rain, snow, etc.
Able to wear common protective or safety equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, breathing protection, and hard hats when needed.
Able to work under stressful conditions at times.
React quickly using hands, fingers, or feet.
Must be able to move and lift to 40-pound wooden skid or pallet.
Ability to travel throughout facility as required to conduct safety inspections.
Must be able to comprehend and follow written and oral instructions.
Must be able to complete tasks even with frequent interruptions.
Must be able to use discretion and independent judgment as needed.
Must be able to speak clearly on the phone and to fellow workers.

Nice To Haves

A bachelor’s degree in electrical, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering and five plus years engineering experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Work with Production and Quality departments, reviews equipment and processes, designs and implements modifications to enhance production capabilities and ensure a quality product. Conducts all work in accordance with standard engineering principles and practices.
Design, fabricate, install, construct, commission and start–up of new or modified plant equipment or facilities.
Identify opportunities for improvement in plant safety and efficiency.
Ensure plant compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
Manage expenditures related to project assignments as well as projecting estimated costs of proposed projects.
Analyze and improve plant yield, process cycle times, and operating costs for new and existing processes.
Develop improvements to electrical and control systems which provide increased plant reliability and operability.
Manage Maintenance Department, with Maintenance Supervisor as a direct report.
Control budget for plant maintenance.
