The Plant Engineer II role provides on-demand mechanical engineering support for operations, maintenance, and turnaround groups within a refinery setting. This position serves as a skilled troubleshooter, developing technical solutions based on cost-benefit analysis, budget impact, and refinery performance. The engineer will prepare specifications, drawings, and bid packages for equipment purchase, construction, and repair. They will act as a technical resource for their assigned area, applying engineering principles to solve reliability issues and managing project engineering activities for new construction and revamp projects. Responsibilities include developing scopes of work, schedules, and cost estimates for projects, providing equipment repair recommendations, participating in root cause analysis, staying updated on technologies, performing fitness for service evaluations, auditing maintenance and operations practices, coordinating consultants, and assisting in the development of engineering standards and training programs. The role also involves providing engineering support for unit shutdowns and turnarounds, and communicating effectively for safe and efficient operations. The position includes on-call duty and potential overtime assignments.
