The position directs all day to day activities of the plant consistent with company policies and procedures. • Foster and enhance the safety culture to achieve safety excellence • Provide operational and employee leadership to the facility • Manage financial performance and make required changes as needed to meet business commitments • Manage all aspects of the plant cost structure including direct and indirect labor, maintenance and consumable spending and proactively control to business volume swings to preserve profitability • Assist operating management with budgeting, production statistics, cost analysis, justification of capital expenditures and asset management • Lead the facility in establishing and meeting continuous improvement objectives • Partner with department managers to develop and maintain a positive culture consistent with Berry Global values, behaviors and mission • Encourage and support the development of all plant employees • Responsible for overall performance efficiencies and competitive service level for the plant • Participate in process improvement and cost savings efforts • Responsible for incorporating continuous quality improvement principles into daily quality culture • Assures compliance with state and federal regulatory matters including OSHA, EPA, EEO and Affirmative Action, Quality Audits • Overall management responsibility for the implementation of mandatory and best practice sharing for cost savings, safety compliance and reduced employee hazard exposure • Coordinates the effective utilization of production capacity, staffing and equipment through planning, organizing and scheduling People: -Supervise employees and activities to support 24/7 production facility. -Plans and maintains schedules. -Conduct new hire training and continuous training to improve efficiencies -Empower employees and develop continuous improvement philosophy throughout operations team. -Develop personnel to grow and assume greater responsibilities that fit into a succession plan for future growth. -Maintains staff job results by training, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; answering grievances; planning, monitoring, and appraising performance results. -Consult with Human Resources and Plant Manager regarding hiring, transfer and discipline of employees as it relates to company policy. CAPEX & Budget Control: -Participates in recommending purchase of new capital equipment, plant layout, production methods, material handling, and parts inventory. -Adhere to maintenance spend budget. -Issue request for capital expense for continued plant product and tool maintenance. -Manage expenses for Tool shop and set-up activities and make recommendations for capital needs. -Review of new mold development, tooling vendor selection, and negotiate tooling cost. Promotes and supports Food Safety Program, as well as Food Culture. Determines the approval for new controlled documents or change of existing documents. Coordinates with ISO standards for preventative machine maintenance and complies with documented procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 5-10 years Injection Molding Experience Preferred
  • 5-10 years Management Experience Preferred
  • 5-10 years Manufacturing Process Knowledge Preferred
  • History of production supervision or management in an injection molding facility, effectively setting priorities for production and attaining those priorities
  • Personal management style that is people-oriented with ability to effectively communicate, motivate, train and hold accountable.
  • Excellent analytical skills required
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team setting
  • Excellent oral and written skills as well as computer literacy skills including Word and Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills with proven ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; talk or hear; and use hands to handle, or touch objects or controls.
  • The employee is regularly required to stand and walk.
  • On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders.
