About The Position

The Plant Controller is the most senior financial leader at the site and a key member of the division’s leadership team. This role partners closely with the Plant Manager, Corporate Finance, and cross-functional teams to ensure financial integrity, drive operational efficiency, and support strategic decision-making through accurate financial planning, analysis, and reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s or MBA preferred).
  • CPA or CMA certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible experience in manufacturing finance.
  • Strong understanding of cost accounting, inventory management, and general ledger principles.
  • Experience in matrixed manufacturing organizations.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (Epicor and IQMS preferred).
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills across all levels of the organization.
  • Must be a “US Person” (i.e., US Citizen or Permanent Resident) to comply with ITAR and EAR regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead monthly forecasting, financial performance reviews, and KPI reporting.
  • Analyze actual results and collaborate with leadership to drive corrective actions.
  • Support strategic business decisions through financial modeling and scenario analysis.
  • Lead or contribute to ad hoc financial projects and initiatives.
  • Oversee month-end close activities including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and depreciation.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of accounts payable and receivable.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register and ensure proper capitalization and depreciation.
  • Manage plant-level tax compliance and support internal and external audit processes.
  • Assist with physical inventory counts and variance analysis.
  • Establish and maintain standard costs and operational benchmarks.
  • Monitor direct labor, material usage, and overhead absorption.
  • Provide insights into cost drivers and recommend efficiency improvements.
  • Lead and develop the accounting team, ensuring alignment with plant and corporate financial goals.
  • Collaborate with operations, business development, and corporate finance to support growth and profitability.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and financial discipline.
  • Identify and mitigate financial and operational risks through proactive risk management practices.
  • Ensure compliance with all Vaupell policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs), especially those related to safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
