The Plant Controller is an integral part of the facility management team, providing direction and support in areas requiring financial expertise, partnering directly with the Plant Manager. The Plant Controller will oversee all facility-level accounting, cost control, budgeting, and financial reporting to ensure the plant operates efficiently, minimizes waste, and meets its overall production goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in manufacturing finance, cost accounting, or financial planning & analysis.
  • Deep knowledge of financial software and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communications along with customer service skills.
  • Ability to problem solve.
  • Must have computer skills to communicate and process data.
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States; no sponsorships are available.
  • Must practice good personal hygiene.
  • Candidates must successfully pass a post-offer/pre-employment drug test, background screen, physical and E-Verify.

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications such as a CPA (Certified Public Accountant), CMA (Certified Management Accountant), or an MBA are highly valued.

Responsibilities

  • Lead month-end and year-end closing processes, and prepare precise balance sheets, P&L, and cash flow statements in compliance with GAAP.
  • Reconciliation of production performance including material and direct labor usage.
  • Complete weekly accounting close surrounding production variances and ending inventory.
  • Track manufacturing costs (labor, materials, and overhead), analyze variances between actual and budgeted expenses, and monitor inventory and scrap.
  • Spearhead the annual plant-level budgeting process and ongoing forecasting while identifying cost-saving opportunities and process improvements.
  • Implement and maintain financial policies and controls to safeguard the company's assets and ensure compliance with regulatory and corporate standards.
  • Collaborate directly with operations, supply chain, and human resources to translate financial data into actionable insights.
  • Analyze inventory usage, operational variances and cycle count results to limit the frequency of adjustments and swings regarding ending inventory and production performance.
  • Partner with other plant controllers to share experiences, offer support, problem solve, and implement best practices to improve the overall success of the accounting and finance function.
  • Provide leadership and support to the plant accounting team encouraging development and growth within the department.
  • Serve as a committee member for facility projects and capital expenditure requests.
