Plant Controller

Standard BotsGlen Cove, NY
$150,000 - $170,000Onsite

About The Position

Standard Bots is building the next generation of industrial robots -- hardware that's powerful, affordable, and designed to scale. We closed a Series C and we're scaling fast, and building the financial infrastructure to match that growth is critical. This role is central to that. Note: This is a full-time, on-site role at our Glen Cove, NY manufacturing facility The Role We're looking for a Plant Controller to serve as the senior finance partner embedded at our manufacturing facility -- owning the plant's financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cost accounting, and working side-by-side with Operations leadership to ensure financial discipline is built into every operational decision. This role reports formally to the Senior Finance Manager, with a dotted-line relationship to the Plant Manager. That structure is intentional -- it preserves independent financial oversight while ensuring close day-to-day partnership with the people running the plant.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or CMA preferred
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, with at least 2 years in a manufacturing or plant finance role
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, cost accounting, and inventory valuation
  • Experience partnering directly with plant and operations leadership in a dotted-line or matrixed reporting structure
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems -- NetSuite or similar a plus
  • Advanced Excel skills; comfortable building financial models and forecasts from scratch
  • Strong presentation and communication skills -- you can walk a Plant Manager through a variance analysis and present the same material to a CFO
  • Comfortable working independently on-site while maintaining strong alignment with corporate Finance

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with international supply chains, tariffs, and customs/duty considerations
  • CPA or CMA credential
  • Background in a high-growth, venture-backed manufacturing or hardware company
  • Familiarity with standard costing in a multi-SKU, complex BOM environment

Responsibilities

  • Own the plant's full financial reporting: monthly close, variance analysis, and management reporting on plant performance
  • Serve as the primary finance point of contact for the plant during external audits (RSM), providing supporting schedules and documentation
  • Maintain internal controls at the plant level and flag risks or process gaps to corporate Finance
  • Present financial results, forecasts, and cost analyses clearly and confidently to senior leadership -- translating plant-level detail into business-level insight
  • Lead budgeting and forecasting for the facility, partnering with the Plant Manager on labor, materials, overhead, and capital planning
  • Evaluate capital expenditure requests and provide financial analysis to support operational decision-making -- new equipment, additional shifts, headcount, and more
  • Oversee cost accounting for the plant: standard costs, BOM cost accuracy, landed cost methodology, and labor allocation (direct vs. indirect)
  • Analyze manufacturing cost variances (material, labor, overhead) and partner with Operations to identify root causes and corrective actions
  • Own inventory valuation, cycle counts, and obsolescence reserve analysis for the facility, ensuring GAAP compliance and audit readiness
  • Partner with Procurement on vendor cost analysis, tariff/duty impact, and supply chain cost trends
  • Provide financial training and guidance to plant operations staff on cost drivers and the financial impact of operational decisions
  • Build a trusted, credible relationship with the Plant Manager and Operations team -- you're their finance partner, not a corporate auditor
