Sacopan is looking for an interested person, like you, to fill the position of: PLANT CONTROLLER. The Plant Controller acts as the financial leader of the Sacopan manufacturing plant and is a key member of the plant's management team. This role ensures sound financial management, strategic business partnership, operational support, and leadership of accounting and financial processes. The position is responsible for financial planning and analysis, month-end close, internal controls, compliance, asset management, and continuous improvement driving plant performance and long-term growth. The Plant Controller translates operational performance into actionable financial information, supports strategic decision-making, ensures compliance with US GAAP, IFRS, and Sarbanes-Oxley standards, and plays a vital role in ERP modernization and SAP deployment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years of progressive experience in accounting, finance, or manufacturing operations finance.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment required.
  • Experience in budget management, forecasting, financial analysis, and operational planning.
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, manufacturing costing, and financial analysis.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including Power Query; knowledge of VBA is a plus.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence decision-making and drive business results.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under tight deadlines.
  • Bilingualism in French and English required; English is used regularly to collaborate with corporate stakeholders and business partners.
  • Ability to build consensus and work effectively at all levels of the organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with SAP is considered an asset.
  • Experience with SAP, OneStream, and financial reporting systems.
  • Knowledge of VBA is considered a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and support a safe work environment for all employees, contractors, and visitors.
  • Actively participate in the plant management team to advance safety culture and operational excellence.
  • Lead monthly closing activities and ensure the accuracy of financial reports in accordance with US GAAP and IFRS standards.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, and annual financial reports, forecasts, budgets, and long-term planning models.
  • Perform variance analysis against budget, forecasts, and prior year results.
  • Analyze plant performance, including inventory, labor, conversion costs, overhead absorption, productivity, and cash flow.
  • Develop and maintain key performance indicators linking operational results to financial results.
  • Present financial results and business analyses to plant management and senior management.
  • Collaborate with plant management to establish operational and financial objectives aligned with the company strategy.
  • Support decision-making through financial modeling, business case development, and profitability analysis.
  • Lead scenario planning, risk assessment, and contingency planning exercises.
  • Provide concrete recommendations to improve business performance and shareholder value.
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and general ledger activities.
  • Ensure prompt and accurate reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
  • Maintain the integrity of financial records and accounting processes.
  • Produce ad-hoc financial analyses and reports as needed.
  • Ensure the effectiveness of internal controls and compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements.
  • Lead annual control assessments, audits, and corrective action activities.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, ethics, and financial discipline within the organization.
  • Lead and support the implementation, stabilization, and continuous improvement initiatives of SAP.
  • Optimize and standardize financial and operational processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve system capabilities, reporting, and data quality.
  • Identify and implement automation opportunities to improve efficiency and performance.
  • Monitor capital expenditures and track project costs.
  • Evaluate investment opportunities using financial analysis tools, including ROI, NPV, and payback methods.
  • Support the prioritization of projects that improve safety, quality, productivity, and profitability.
  • Verify the achievement of expected financial benefits from capital investments.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and development for administrative and financial staff.
  • Educate plant managers on financial principles and performance indicators.
  • Build collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
