About The Position

This position involves planning and directing accounting activities, either personally or through subordinate supervisors. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing financial management policies, supervising the preparation of financial statements and reports, and overseeing the installation and maintenance of accounting records. The role also entails directing cost analyses, preparing future cost and revenue statements, and leading internal audits to review accounting and administrative controls. Furthermore, the Plant Controller establishes system controls for new financial systems, develops procedures to enhance existing ones, coordinates external audit materials, reviews financial statements with management, and directs the implementation of new accounting, timekeeping, payroll, inventory, property, and other related procedures and controls.

Requirements

  • Master's degree (M. A.) or equivalent.
  • 8 to 12 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements goals, policies, priorities, and procedures relating to financial management, budget, accounting, and/or payroll.
  • Supervises and participates in the preparation of various financial statements and reports.
  • Directs the installation and maintenance of accounting records to show receipts and expenditures.
  • Directs the maintenance of general and subsidiary ledgers, accounts receivable, revenue distribution, depreciation, cost, property, and operating expenses, and insurance records.
  • Directs and participates in cost analyses and rate studies.
  • Prepares statements and reports of estimated future costs and revenues.
  • Directs internal audits involving review of accounting and administrative controls.
  • Establishes system controls for new financial systems and develops procedures to improve existing systems.
  • Coordinates preparation of external audit materials and external financial reporting.
  • Reviews financial statements with management personnel.
  • Directs the installation and maintenance of new accounting, timekeeping, payroll, inventory, property, and other related procedures and controls.
  • Manages 2-3 subordinate supervisors who supervise a total of four employees in the Finance/Accounting Department.
  • Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
