About The Position

Silgan is hiring a Plant Accountant to manage manufacturing accounting and plant-level financial operations at our Antioch, CA, production facility. This role aligns with Staff Accountant and Senior Accountant positions in manufacturing environments and focuses on cost accounting, financial reporting, inventory accounting, and operational financial analysis. This Plant Accountant (Manufacturing Accountant) role is part of a 55-employee manufacturing plant with a single cost center and a defined production process. The structure provides clear financial responsibilities, a direct connection between production activity and financial results, streamlined cost accounting processes compared to complex or multi-site operations, and a close-knit workforce with strong engagement across departments. There is regular interaction with plant management and corporate finance partners, with an emphasis on teamwork, accountability, and clear communication. The role involves active participation in production meetings and routine plant walkthroughs in an environment that values accuracy, organization, and follow-through.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
A minimum of 2 years of accounting or finance experience
Strong knowledge of cost accounting, inventory controls, and month-end close
Working knowledge of GAAP principles
Experience with SOX-aligned or internal control environments
Detail-oriented, organized, and process-focused work style
Comfortable managing plant accounting duties with minimal supervision
Strong ability to meet deadlines while working as a team

Responsibilities

Assist with inventory accuracy, including quarterly physical inventories, audit cadence, and variance resolution
Help with monthly closing, plant financial statements, and standardized financial reporting in accordance with corporate timelines
Prepare budgeting, forecasting, and annual operating plan submissions
Maintain standard costs, cost accounting processes, and bills of materials (BOMs)
Manage compliance with SOX internal controls and maintain audit readiness
Participate in production meetings and conduct regular plant walkthroughs
Partner with plant management on manufacturing finance and cost management
Provide day-to-day oversight of the plant accounting clerk and plant planner
Cooperate with corporate finance on reporting accuracy and control compliance
Support with HR functions as needed
