The purpose of this classification is to process various planning documentation, accept rezoning applications, conditional use permit, sketch plat, home occupation permit and mobile vending permit applications. This role involves conducting research using GIS, computer databases, internet sites, site plans, and construction plans to ensure accuracy and compliance with county requirements. The technician operates a computer for data entry, retrieval, and review, utilizing various software including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, GIS, and email. They prepare and process various forms, reports, correspondence, applications, legal advertisements, agendas, meeting minutes, and resolutions. The position also involves receiving payments for rezoning application fees, communicating with various stakeholders, and attending meetings. A key responsibility is providing administrative support for the Planning Commission, including preparing agendas, managing public input, recording minutes, and preparing recommendations for the Board of Commissioners. The role also includes maintaining records and databases of applications and zoning documentation. Additional duties involve general clerical tasks, assisting citizens and other agencies with land use inquiries, and providing support to other employees and departments.
