About The Position

The Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry is seeking to fill a vacancy for a Planning and Research Assistant in the Animal Welfare Program located in Augusta, Maine. This position involves collecting, analyzing, and presenting facts and figures relevant to program, policy, and resource development. It provides logistical support for case management from complaint through disposition, including court proceedings. The role requires extensive public contact via telephone, email, and written correspondence, along with significant data entry and database upkeep. Some field work may be required. The position is under general supervision.

Requirements

  • A two (2) year combination of education, training, and/or experience providing a knowledge of statistics, methods of research and planning, and/or economic analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluating inspection reports and maintaining inspection files.
  • Requesting importation permits for dogs and cats.
  • Reviewing animal health certificates.
  • Conducting surveys.
  • Preparing charts and graphs.
  • Writing reports.
  • Serving as a point of contact to assist municipal clerks with dog licensing database.
  • Developing and presenting training materials for dog licensing.
  • Providing logistical support for case management from complaint through disposition including court proceedings process.
  • Developing training and outreach materials and scheduling trainings.
  • Extensive public contact by telephone, email and written correspondence.
  • Significant data entry and database upkeep.
