For more than a century, we have been delivering solutions for some of the largest, most complex infrastructure projects across the country. With our historic growth, it is an exciting time to join our team of employee-owners. This opportunity entails being under close supervision and assisting the Planning and Mobility department by performing basic assignments in the areas including, but not limited to Transportation Planning, Land Use Planning, and Urban Mobility. This position is usually on a part-time, temporary, or co-op basis. Our Chicago-based Planning & Mobility team is a group of over 20 planners and engineers who work together to take projects from vision through design. Skills interns use and learn include GIS, graphic design/infographics, street design, CAD, field work, community engagement, transit policy, transportation demand modeling and other data analysis. Typical projects that interns work on include: bus priority and multimodal corridor studies; regional rail, bike, micromobility and other multimodal plans; trail feasibility studies, and grant writing. Our Chicago internship program offers a robust professional development experience for interns to connect with other disciplines in various departments; attend lunch and learns, social networking events and workshops/trainings; and go on field trips to project sites.
