About The Position

As an FP&A (Financial Planning & Analysis) Intern at Flywheel Energy, you will work at the intersection of finance, operations, and strategy—supporting the analytical work that informs how Flywheel allocates capital, measures performance, and plans for growth. You will work with real financial data on a company executing at scale, not building models in a vacuum. You will work alongside high-performing teams, gaining hands-on experience and real accountability from day one. This is not shadow work—what you produce flows into actual operations.

  • Bring a growth mindset and thrive in fast-paced, evolving environments
  • Embrace challenge, accountability, and honest feedback
  • Want to grow alongside exceptional teammates and contribute to something bigger than themselves
  • Have completed foundational finance or accounting coursework and are comfortable building and interrogating financial models in Excel
  • Are detail-oriented, analytically strong, and able to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial audiences

Responsibilities

  • Support the annual budgeting process, including departmental rollups, consolidation, and variance analysis
  • Build and maintain financial models that support production forecasting, capital planning, and scenario analysis
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly variance reports comparing actual results to budget and forecast, with clear explanations of key drivers
  • Assist in the preparation of board and management reporting packages, translating financial data into clear, actionable insights
  • Track capital expenditures across active drilling and completion programs and assist with AFE monitoring
  • Partner with operations, accounting, and land teams to gather data and ensure models reflect ground-level reality

Benefits

  • Real project ownership and accountability from day one
  • Immersion in a high-performance, purpose-driven culture
