About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Planning Administrator, this internship assists with planning and development projects. Responsibilities include research, analysis, preparing plans, reports, studies, and presentation of data. The intern will support the implementation of the City’s Comprehensive Plan, small area plans, and other planning projects. They will also participate in the preparation of planning-related reports, studies, special projects, and research. Additionally, the role involves assisting with outreach, public engagement, and meeting facilitation (including virtual methods), promoting public education and awareness of urban planning, and providing information to internal and external customers regarding city planning, growth, and development trends. Other related duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Currently enrolled undergraduate student in urban planning, urban design, architecture, or related field.
  • Proven written and oral communication abilities.
  • Ability to comprehend and apply multiple ordinances and policies.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment, tact, and diplomacy in all public interactions.
