About The Position

Help people create homes they love. Join the Urban Barn team as a Planner at our Home Office in Burnaby, BC. With over 50 retail stores across the country, Urban Barn is a nationally recognized retailer known for high-quality furniture and inspiring home décor. We’re passionate about making our customers and employees feel right at home. This is an in-office position Monday-Thursday, with the flexibility to work remotely on Friday's. Reporting to the Planning Manager, this Planner will partner with the category Buyer, to optimize sales and manage Urban Barn’s home accents and décor categories to drive growth and meet financial objectives for this category.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in Product Planning and/or Buying
  • OTB (Open-to-buy) management experience
  • Advanced Excel skills, with the ability to learn new software programs
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Organizational skills, excellent written and verbal communication, attention to detail, sound judgment, and multitasking abilities
  • Ability to work independently; flexibility to adapt to change; and a sense of humor in a dynamic environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in categories related to Accents, Accessories, Apparel, or Furniture is preferred
  • You have a passion for home décor and interior design

Responsibilities

  • Develops seasonal and annual OTB plans in conjunction with Planning Manager, Buyer(s) and Senior Management to meet corporate objectives.
  • Analyze weekly sales and performance results and adjust forecasts as required
  • Ensure inventories by item and category are adjusted to trends
  • Complete scheduled or ad hoc reports and analysis as required
  • Prepare and present data to support category optimization decision-making
  • Continuously seek opportunities to grow assigned categories
  • Collaborate with the Buyer and Purchasing Assistant on, assortment planning & selection, seasonal buys, markdowns, reporting and analytics.
  • Proactively identify potential problems or opportunities and develop solutions or mitigation plans.
  • Work closely with Ecommerce to provide product information required to maximize sales and elevate user experience.
  • Work closely with Marketing on sharing information on upcoming promotions and markdowns
