As a Planner II, you will perform professional-level urban planning duties, including case research, data collection, and analysis for processing site plans, plats, permit reviews, rezoning requests, and variances. This role has a strong focus on development review consistency and historic preservation within the City of Richmond. The ideal candidate operates with a high degree of integrity, fosters transparency, and effectively collaborates with city departments, developers, and the community to implement the City's long-term vision.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Urban Planning, Geography, Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of two (2) to four (4) years of professional municipal or regional planning experience (the required years may scale based on the level of educational background).
  • Must be able to work independently without supervision.
  • Valid Texas Class C Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
  • Active membership in the American Planning Association (APA) and eligibility/progress toward AICP (American Institute of Certified Planners) certification.

Nice To Haves

  • An emphasis or coursework in historic preservation is highly desirable.
