About The Position

The Planner II develops and manages production schedules in a fast-paced, highly collaborative manufacturing environment. This role balances customer demand, capacity, and material availability while coordinating closely with sales, purchasing, production, engineering, and quality teams. The Planner II takes initiative, adapts to frequently changing priorities on custom orders, and drives continuous improvement in planning processes and system accuracy.

Requirements

  • 2–5 years of experience in purchasing or planning within a production or manufacturing environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience with ERP or MRP tools for planning, scheduling, and materials management.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to analyze and manipulate large data sets.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data and make sound decisions.
  • Ability to make independent decisions and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong understanding of production processes, lead times, and capacity planning principles.
  • Knowledge of Bills of Material (BOMs), revisions, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Experience in production or demand planning, preferably within a manufacturing industry.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across sales, inventory, procurement, engineering, and manufacturing teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under deadlines and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • High level of initiative and willingness to support team members to ensure work is completed for clients.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Syteline ERP system.
  • Experience with BOM management and engineering change processes, including ECNs and revisions.
  • Experience supporting multi-product or complex manufacturing environments.
  • Experience in supply chain, purchasing, or production planning in a manufacturing setting.
  • Familiarity with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and structured planning processes.
  • Interest in long-term growth opportunities, including potential conversion to full-time employment and future ownership opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage detailed production schedules based on customer demand, capacity constraints, and material availability.
  • Determine job priorities, quantities, and required completion dates to meet customer and internal commitments.
  • Provide direction to Planner I on job creation, release timing, and execution priorities to ensure coordinated planning activities.
  • Analyze capacity and material constraints to ensure production plans are realistic and achievable.
  • Confirm ship dates for new customer orders in coordination with the Sales team.
  • Evaluate and respond to customer pull-in requests, assessing feasibility based on capacity, lead times, and material availability.
  • Continuously assess part availability, including supplier lead times and on-hand inventory, when making planning decisions.
  • Coordinate closely with Purchasing, Production, Engineering, and Quality to align planning activities and resolve conflicts.
  • Process Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), including updating item revisions and modifying Bills of Material (BOMs) and job-specific BOMs.
  • Create and maintain item master data and new BOMs to support accurate planning and production execution.
  • Manage changes that impact production schedules and material requirements, adjusting plans as needed.
  • Collaborate with Quality to address non-conforming materials and determine appropriate disposition based on production demand.
  • Work cross-functionally with Production, Engineering, and Quality to resolve manufacturing issues, including deviations and defects.
  • Monitor production schedules and adjust for delays, material shortages, or unforeseen conditions to minimize impact on delivery.
  • Support reporting and performance tracking, including metrics such as on-time delivery and schedule adherence.
  • Drive continuous improvement in planning processes, data integrity, and system accuracy.
  • Comply with all company policies, standard operating procedures, and safety requirements.
  • Demonstrate a high sense of urgency and a willingness to support tasks beyond the core job description in an all-hands-on-deck environment.
  • Effectively manage consistently changing priorities, especially on custom orders, while maintaining clear communication with stakeholders.
