About The Position

The Planner/Estimator for Technical Services Hawaii will report directly to the Hawaii Area Manager and support all other Managers in preparing estimates, proposals and planning documents in support of proposals. The candidate will have experience in planning and estimating the accomplishment of ship/craft repairs and alterations, including equipment removal and installation. Candidate must be a self-starter and have the ability to work in a dynamic working environment. The position requires significant knowledge and experience with reviewing work specifications, engineering drawings and NAVSEA standard items in order to provide both labor and material estimates for FFP, CPFF and T&M proposals. Safety and quality requirements must be included in the estimates therefore the candidate shall have a working knowledge of safety and quality requirements as they apply to Navy ship repair and modification work. Candidate must be able to conduct ship checks aboard ships and under industrial repair conditions, while following all safety regulations. Candidate must be willing to perform other duties as assigned by the Hawaii Area Manager.

Requirements

  • At least one to three (1-3) years of experience in the marine industry estimating costs for shipboard industrial work aboard US Navy ships.
  • Experience with MSC ships, USCG cutters and/or US Army watercraft using specifications and related drawings.
  • HM&E experience is also desired.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Capable of reading and interpreting blueprints and drawings.
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Project.
  • Eligible for a Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) credential.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Must be able to access military facilities, naval shipyards, and private shipyards.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare estimates, proposals, and planning documents in support of proposals.
  • Plan and estimate ship/craft repairs and alterations, including equipment removal and installation.
  • Review work specifications, engineering drawings, and NAVSEA standard items.
  • Provide labor and material estimates for FFP, CPFF, and T&M proposals.
  • Incorporate safety and quality requirements into estimates for Navy ship repair and modification work.
  • Conduct ship checks aboard ships and under industrial repair conditions, following all safety regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
