About The Position

The Planner Estimator is responsible for planning and estimating highly complex structural, electrical, and mechanical commercial level projects. They will report to the Task Order Manager (TOM) and assist the Service Manager on an as needed basis. This role involves gathering data, preparing bid proposal estimates and design/build proposals, performing take-offs from drawings, and pricing change orders. The Planner Estimator must understand plans and specifications to identify necessary materials and equipment, ensure compliance with project requirements, and apply cost fundamentals. They will also prepare bid packages, obtain pricing from subcontractors and vendors, and demonstrate familiarity with electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and plumbing equipment, materials, and specifications. A key aspect of this role is the ability to read and interpret blueprints and contract documents, including contract drawings, subcontracts, and contract addenda. Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles for producing plans, blueprints, and drawings is essential. The position requires developing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work, generating high-quality work, and collaborating effectively with others to achieve common goals. Requirements

  • Master’s degree with 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil, Architectural Engineering, or Construction Management with 5+ years of experience
  • Associate degree in a related field with 8+ years of experience
  • High school diploma or GED with 10+ years of relevant experience
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in planning and estimating structural, electrical and mechanical projects in a large or multiple facility with highly complex mechanical, electrical and structural requirements, and Project Management experience.
  • Must be competent in the use of RS-Means.
  • Clearance Requirement: Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and may meet eligibility requirements, including U.S. Citizenship, for access to classified information; Ability to obtain and maintain an HSPD-12 clearance required.
  • Exposure to computer screens for an extended period of time.
  • Sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Reach by extending hands or arms in any direction.
  • Have finger dexterity in order to manipulate objects with fingers rather than whole hands or arms, for example, using a keyboard.
