Planer Operations Team Member
About The Position

The company is seeking a full-time Planermill Team Member for an immediate opening at their Grande Prairie, AB, Planermill. This role is part of the Planer Operational Teams and involves working a rotating shift schedule (2 weeks days, 2 weeks nights). Requirements
- Committed to safety and have a desire to work in a team environment within a manufacturing facility while maintaining a positive attitude and good work ethic
- A high school diploma or GED is required
- Willingness to wear all required personal protective equipment
- Willingness to work a rotating shift, including nights and weekends as required
- Able to work in extreme temperatures, in dusty and noisy conditions, while wearing safety equipment
- Ability to perform the essential job functions of the position, which includes climbing stairs, navigating catwalks, lifting up to 50 pounds, stooping, and bending
- Must have basic computer skills
- Must be able to work independently as well as in a group
- Eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship
- Ability to work within a team setting
- Able to perform basic math and use computers
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving and communication skills
- Well-developed planning and organizational abilities
- Commitment to learning new systems and equipment
- Natural self-starter
- Ability and desire to see problems through to completion
- Satisfactory completion of substance testing, background check, and agreement with general terms of work
Nice To Haves
- Experience past or present in lumber grading is preferred
- Industrial or Manufacturing experience is a plus
- Experience in a self-directed team environment is a plus
Responsibilities
- Total commitment to working safely, following all safety rules and company policies and procedures
- Support manufacturing by maximizing plant uptime and providing support for facility systems in a safe manner while contributing to corporate, plant, and departmental goals
- Work with a team, operating sawmill machinery and processing equipment
- Perform Machine Center Preventative Maintenance, Lockout/ Tagout as required, and Clean Up Duties
