About The Position

The Plan Administration Manager role directs actuarial work performed by Ernst & Young (EY) related to capital adequacy/financial strength, experience studies, actuarial modeling, asset liability management (ALM), valuation, retirement plan support, product development, pricing, and non-guaranteed element determination. This job oversees both the partner Actuarial team at EY and the Group Annuity Plan Administration team and owns policy and strategy implementation for short-term actuarial results. This job requires ensuring the EY team's compliance with actuary practices and monitoring of changing regulations to ensure consistent compliance and delivery of optimal solutions to both internal and external clients.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the work performed by EY with respect to the company's actuarial liabilities and capital position to ensure adequate financial strength of annuity and life insurance product lines, as well as overall financial strength of the company
  • Oversees the work performed by EY with respect to experience studies and assumption development for the group annuity line of business
  • Approves asset and liability modeling and analyses of group annuity line of business including financial projections and stress testing performed by EY
  • Coordinates with EY on various ALM projects such as economic scenario generation, duration analysis, and interest rate stress testing
  • Approves valuations of actuarial reserves and liabilities prepared by EY
  • Coordinates with EY on the development of annuity products, pricing, and policyholder illustrations, and the determination of non-guaranteed elements such as crediting rates and dividend scales
  • Manages performance of the Group Annuity Plan Administration team through regular, timely feedback as well as the formal performance review process to ensure engagement, development of team members, and delivery of exceptional results
