About The Position

Provide individual and group career coaching services to Liberal Arts students. Serve as a Career Coach for undergraduate Liberal Arts students. The goal is to help Liberal Arts students understand the variety of opportunities available to them and to help articulate the value of their Liberal Arts education.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• At least three years of experience in career services, or a role performing a variety of career coaching, recruiting, teaching, advising and/or counseling activities.
• Demonstrated interest in working with undergraduate students in a career or mentoring capacity.
• Excellent project management abilities, interpersonal skills, and oral and written communication skills.
• Comfortable presenting to large groups. Virtually and in-person.
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Nice To Haves

• Master's degree and experience working in higher education career services.
• More than the required experience.
• Knowledge of skills developed in a liberal arts curriculum.
• Experience teaching or coaching students in an academic or career setting.
• Experience using Canvas, Teams, SharePoint and Zoom.

Responsibilities

• Provide Liberal Arts students comprehensive individual and group career coaching services, including: defining career goals; developing career plans; internship assistance; resume and cover letter critiques; and connecting students with resources.
• Provide both case and behavioral mock interview services.
• Share information and collaborate with recruiting team to bridge student and employer needs.
• Act as teaching assistant for large (250+) professional development courses for economics majors.
• Regularly lecture, provide feedback on assignments, host office hours, and respond to student emails in a timely fashion.
• Strategize ways to keep students engaged in a large required course.
• Develop, implement, and coordinate a variety of workshops, events, and career preparation opportunities.
• Network and collaborate with employers, student groups, and other campus constituencies to promote career connections.
• Represent Liberal Arts Career Services in on-campus and off-campus meetings.
• Research and create career-related content for student, alumni, and employer collateral.
• Help career services staff with office events, including career fairs.
• Attend staff and career coach meetings.
• Enter and maintain electronic coaching notes in office database in a timely fashion.

Benefits

• The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
