About The Position

The Montana Department of Corrections (DOC) is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to fill the role of Program Specialist Supervisor. In this position, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the processes and procedures for generating and screening applications to community corrections programs. As a working supervisor, you will actively engage in the work alongside your team of up to 5 staff members, ensuring the smooth execution of tasks and maintaining the highest standards of excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in criminology, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Psychology, Social Work or another related field.
  • Five years of experience working with criminal justice system, preferably within the State of Montana.
  • Candidates who have been convicted of any felony or a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or were issued a court order of protection are not qualified for this position.
  • Any person who has 1) engaged in sexual abuse in a prison, jail, lockup, community confinement facility, juvenile facility, or other institution; 2) been convicted of engaging in or attempting to engage in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable to consent or refuse; or 3) been civilly or administratively adjudicated to have engaged in activity as described in the latter, are not qualified for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of placement options, statues and alternatives within the Montana Department of Corrections preferred.
  • Experience with detail-oriented data tracking with a strict emphasis on quality, accuracy, and system integrity preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assess program and client needs and ensure that program objectives are met.
  • Work with community members and other stakeholders to identify necessary programs and services.
  • Identify, suggest, or implement improvements to programs and services.
  • Plan and oversee outreach activities.
  • Review, interpret, and monitor compliance to guidelines, laws and regulations.
  • Prepare reports.
  • May investigate complaints and suspected violations.
  • May coordinate activities of program committees or other groups and plan procedures.
  • Supervise or manage at least 2 FTE employees.
  • Perform management functions including hiring, firing, performance management, discipline, work distribution, employee development.
  • Supervise the work of staff to ensure that programs are of appropriate quality and that resources are used effectively.
