About The Position

The Placement Lead supports the Ceded Reinsurance Placement Team in purchasing and managing AXA’s global reinsurance programs, with a focus on AXA XL. The role works across business lines and Treaty business, covering an even split between Quota Share and Excess of Loss, and collaborates with underwriting teams, legal entities, regional and global leadership, Risk Management, and other stakeholders.

Requirements

Reinsurance experience is essential; previous Ceded Reinsurance experience is highly beneficial.
Understanding of reinsurance contract wordings, including formation and interpretation.
Ability to contribute data and analytical skills to manage large submission data sets.
Excellent verbal and written communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.
Ability to negotiate reinsurance business externally.
Ability to work across a global team and collaborate robustly with peers and other team members.
Innovative thinking, willingness to challenge ideas, and ability to handle complex situations.
Knowledge of Specialty, Property and Casualty Insurance and Reinsurance.
Technical orientation.
Ability to work to tight placement process deadlines.

Nice To Haves

Previous Ceded Reinsurance experience.
Appreciation of capital modelling and actuarial analysis in the purchase of reinsurance.

Responsibilities

Support key reinsurance placements, including submission preparation, contract review and negotiation, and handover to Ceded Re operations.
Participate in negotiations to secure competitive terms, structure, and pricing.
Help ensure contracts reflect negotiated terms, comprehensive coverage, and market-leading terms and conditions.
Help conclude negotiations successfully on or before treaty inception.
Build relationships inside and outside the enterprise to understand and foster business objectives.
Help ensure related parties understand the programs, from operations through underwriting.
Serve as a key member of the Ceded Reinsurance Placement Team.
Collaborate with other Ceded Re teams and AXA XL/AXA Group stakeholders to encourage innovation and continuous improvement in placement processes and approaches.
Participate in strategic projects and take on lead or backup roles as appropriate.
Stay up to date on coverage and legal trends to help ensure contracts protect the company from adverse or unexpected loss.
