About The Position

The South-Central Region is looking to hire a Placement Coordinator to join the new Placements Team! As a Placement Coordinator, you will provide a vital regional response to placement services for children and youth entering care, as well as those transitioning between resources. This role is crucial in minimizing placement trauma and ensuring that matching processes are child-centered, culturally appropriate, and rooted in Child Intervention practice.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Social Work with some related experience.
  • Master of Social Work (no experience required).
  • Related university degree and 2 years related experience.
  • Related diploma and 3 years related experience.
  • Related certificate and 4 years related experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong critical thinking skills.
  • Skills, knowledge, abilities and competencies as outlined in the Job Profile.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle.

Nice To Haves

  • Delegated (category 7) Child Intervention Practitioner
  • Experience conducting intakes, assessments, interviews, and case management in a child intervention setting
  • Experience working collaboratively with Indigenous First Nations and DFNAs
  • Strong understanding of the Child, Youth, and Family Enhancement Act and Enhancement Policy Manual
  • Regulatory compliance knowledge
  • Experience working with community stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and facilitate the immediate and planned placement of children and youth into foster care, kinship care, group care, and treatment facilities across the South-Central Region.
  • Act as the primary liaison and central hub for a diverse stakeholder network, including Child Intervention Practitioners, Supervisors, Managers, Directors, group/treatment care staff, and licensing/regional contract resource teams.
  • Develop and support comprehensive transition plans that promote stability and continuity, minimizing the disruption to the child’s educational, cultural, and social environments.
  • Monitor regional placement capacity, ensuring effective utilization of contracted and internal resources while identifying systemic gaps in service delivery.
