About The Position

The Pit Cook is responsible for operating and managing BBQ pits and smokers to cook various types of meat to perfection. This role requires expertise in seasoning, flavoring, and monitoring cooking temperatures and smoke levels. The Pit Cook must adhere to strict food safety protocols and collaborate with the team to ensure timely and high-quality BBQ service.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and manage BBQ pits and smokers to smoke, roast, and cook various types of meat, ensuring each item is cooked to perfection while adhering to prescribed recipes and techniques.
  • Season and flavor meats with rubs and sauces to enhance taste and tenderness, demonstrating knowledge of different flavor profiles.
  • Monitor and maintain precise temperature and smoke levels within the pit or smoker, adjusting settings as needed to achieve the desired flavor, texture, and consistency of the BBQ meats.
  • Adhere strictly to food safety protocols, including proper handling, storage, and preparation of meats.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to prevent contamination and uphold health and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with other team members and the management team to communicate effectively and coordinate the timing and readiness of BBQ meats for service.
  • Contribute to a smooth workflow and ensure the timely delivery of high-quality BBQ to customers.
