About The Position

The Piping Engineering Senior Consultant provides senior-level technical direction and supervision to project team members in the piping discipline. The role establishes discipline task schedules and budgets, coordinates work across disciplines, and is accountable for project deliverables that meet technical, quality, and project-controls expectations. The consultant serves as a technical liaison with clients and a lead technical resource on projects. The position supports nuclear engineering projects involving piping evaluations performed under applicable codes, including ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, ASME B31.1, and ASME B31.7. Specialty work may include vibration monitoring and analysis, vibration prevention and mitigation, hydraulic transient and thermal stratification evaluations, operability evaluations, qualification for hydrodynamic loads, pipe rupture evaluations, pipe wall-thinning assessments for flow-accelerated or microbiologically induced corrosion, and pipe flaw evaluations. Lead-engineering duties include reviewing complex calculations and approving simple calculations; preparing, reviewing, and approving system or structural designs; reviewing drawings and design inputs; coordinating design and engineering interfaces; and participating in design reviews. The role also prepares and reviews major system, installation, and material specifications; conducts bid evaluations and participates in vendor negotiations; and prepares or reviews complex single-discipline reports and studies and contributes to multidisciplinary reports. The position follows a hybrid work schedule and requires in-office work three days per week. Sargent & Lundy's Nuclear Power Group supports nuclear engineering, design, and licensing, including existing-plant life extensions and digital modernization, advanced reactor work, and new-build projects.
