About The Position

With more than 11,000 employees, HII’s Ingalls Shipbuilding division is the largest manufacturing employer in Mississippi and a major contributor to the economic growth of Alabama. For nearly 85 years, we’ve designed, built and maintained amphibious ships, destroyers, and cutters for the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Coast Guard. The largest supplier of U.S. Navy surface combatants, we’re simultaneously building four classes of ships and have pioneered the development and production of technologically advanced, highly capable ships for the surface Navy fleet for decades. The RolePipewelder apprentices complete a 6000-hr. program. Pipewelder apprentices are exposed to the complex weld piping systems aboard naval vessels. Pipewelder apprentices learn how to weld pipe in various positions using SMAW and GTAW recesses as well as other methods.

Requirements

  • Must be a high school graduate or have completed your GED.
  • You must provide the following information at time of Intake Interview:
  • - Original High School or G.E.D. transcripts (your diploma will not be accepted)
  • - Any college or vocational transcripts or certificates
  • - Driver's License or State ID
  • - Original Social Security Card (or form from Social Security office stating that you have applied)
  • Original Birth Certificate
  • - DD214 if former military
