Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Petroleum)
  • 6+ years of related experience
  • Advanced knowledge of business, customer needs, and technical/engineering concepts
  • Proficient in project management and quality management
  • Knowledge of natural gas industry construction practices, FERC and agency requirements, engineering design standards, and codes/regulations
  • Ability to read and understand technical documents and stay current on technology and industry standards
  • Experience in pipeline integrity projects and other pipeline maintenance, modernization, and growth projects
  • Effective stakeholder management, analytical, communication, facilitation, and negotiation skills
  • Leadership skills, including team facilitation, collaboration, and influencing
  • Ability to travel within North America as needed
  • Travel to other company locations across the U.S. for meetings and site visits (estimated up to 25% of work schedule)

Responsibilities

  • Conduct preliminary and detailed design work for natural gas projects
  • Secure and manage engineering service providers, including contract development and award
  • Oversee third-party engineering to ensure compliance with plans, contracts, schedules, and budgets
  • Perform engineering calculations and designs with peer oversight
  • Coordinate engagement with internal stakeholders (Operations, Engineering, Land, Environmental, Air, Technical Services) to provide input to and review of engineering deliverables
  • Facilitate project design reviews during FEED and detailed engineering phases
  • Review engineering contractor invoices and change order requests
  • Schedule and participate in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) meetings
  • Provide procurement support (engineering & material procurement plans, bid tab reviews, supplier qualification)
  • Update engineering and material monthly forecasts with Project Controls Lead
  • Resolution of technical/engineering issues during engineering, construction, and commissioning
  • Support resolution of non-conformances during engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning
  • Review and approve pressure testing documentation
  • Manage workflow between TC Energy and external consultants
  • Track key engineering deliverables and adjust plans/resources as needed
  • Report status to project management and recommend corrective actions
  • Support management of change process to maintain design integrity
  • Document lessons learned and opportunities for improvement
  • Collaborate with other project groups to share and implement best practices
  • Participate in the Engineer in Training program as a mentor
  • Contribute to continual improvement of project management tools and processes
