Pipeline Coordinator

JDS Energy & Mining•Challis, ID

About The Position

The Pipeline Coordinator oversees the planning, installation, maintenance, and integrity of the mine site's linear piping networks. These include tailings distribution lines, process water loops, dewatering networks, and fresh water supply lines. The role coordinates construction crews, piping contractors, and mine planning teams to ensure fluid transport networks scale with advancing pit or underground mine development without disrupting production.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the routing, relocation, and installation of site pipelines, aligning them with short-term mine plans, dump advancements, and tailings dam raises.
  • Oversee third-party piping contractors and internal crews performing HDPE pipeline fusion, trenching, valve installations, and pumping station modifications.
  • Manage routine ultrasonic wall-thickness testing, pipeline rotation schedules for abrasive slurry lines, and leak detection protocols to prevent environmental spills.
  • Collaborate with Hydrology and Mine Planning teams to align pipeline flow capacities with seasonal dewatering requirements and mill water demands.
  • Ensure piping networks, containment berms, and catch basins comply with environmental permits, provincial mining codes, and zero-harm safety standards.
  • Maintain inventory of critical piping components, including HDPE pipe, fittings, high-pressure valves, and pumps, to minimize downtime during emergency repairs or planned line shifts.
