About The Position

ONEOK is seeking a Pipeline Control Simulation Coordinator responsible for managing and supporting the Pipeline Control Center simulator environment. This role is crucial for preparing pipeline controllers through training, abnormal operating conditions, emergency response scenarios, and other real-world situations. The coordinator will support training and simulation needs across ONEOK’s NGL console groups by managing simulator scheduling, maintaining scenario content, supporting system improvements, and ensuring training scenarios reflect daily controller experiences. Collaboration with Pipeline Control, Pipeline Modeling, SCADA, IT, engineers, lead controllers, and other stakeholders is essential for designing, testing, documenting, and improving simulation modules. The position requires strong pipeline operations knowledge, proficiency in Microsoft 365, technical documentation skills, independent problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to influence and coordinate across business units with minimal supervision. Experience in pipeline control, operations control, board operations, plant operations, SCADA, simulation tools, reporting, or Power BI is highly valued for candidates who understand pipeline operations and are creative in improving training and system effectiveness.

  • Experience with and knowledge of natural gas and/or natural gas liquid pipeline operations related to hydraulics in both steady-state and transient modes.
  • Experience with PCC functions, computer programs, and equipment applicable to PCC operations.
  • Experience monitoring pressures, volumes, and controls to maintain adequate NGP and NGL flow.
  • Working knowledge and/or experience with modeling and simulation software to calculate and analyze hydraulic conditions on a system-wide, network basis; knowledge of various vendor software and their capabilities.
  • Experience interacting, advising, training and communicating effectively.
  • Experience in use and function of office equipment applicable to position including computers.
  • Experience and/or training related to: Basic programming/computer applications and hardware/SCADA systems.

  • Experience reading and interpreting rules, regulations, logs, reports, manuals, contracts, procedures and schematic diagrams.
  • Experience compiling and preparing reports, logs, and correspondence.
  • Knowledge of field logic, including the ability to understand hydraulics, cause/effect, pump behavior, and general pipeline operations.
  • Knowledge of pumps and drivers along with general operating principles and modeling techniques/data for these devices in simulation software.
  • Skills in computer with all MS Office applications - including data queries and analysis, pivot tables, etc.; the ability to interact with and contribute to Control Room Management (CRM) and other Key Management systems.
  • Ability to translate operating scenarios and response procedures into operational and training documentation/manuals.
  • Ability to apply basic mathematics, including use of decimals and percentages.
  • Ability to understand process flow diagrams (PFD) and schematics, to write technical reports and guidelines, and to interact with and contribute to enterprise systems.
  • Ability to verbalize information or instructions utilizing telephones and two-way radios.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Pipeline Control Center (PCC) simulator environment, including scheduling and oversight of patching, maintenance, software upgrades, and resolution of hardware and/or equipment issues; develop communication plan to communicate impacts to stakeholders.
  • Responsible for developing a scheduling process for the simulator environment that will enable scheduling of individual training sessions across multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Create, maintain, and document different training scenarios with different parameters around each unique setup for a scenario. Help with keeping track of all the different possibilities.
  • Develop a strategic “roadmap” and long-term plan for the PCC simulator environment that includes resource requirements, additional functionality, and system requirements that promote continuous improvement of the environment.
  • Create and maintain the program collaboratively with major stakeholders, with a focus on future growth and expansion capabilities.
  • Ensure simulation capabilities remain consistent with existing Operational procedures; ensure new programming logic and/or assets can be simulated through the development of new scenarios.
  • Collaborate with groups to utilize and integrate tools that will assist in more accurately representing the day to day experiences of a Pipeline Controller (Max Log, PI).
  • Able to identify and assist in SCADA and operational differences – understanding differences in approach to set points between groups and pipeline systems.
  • Create and maintain up to date user training documentation.
  • Develop reporting to demonstrate training progress, scenario content, pass rates or other ad hoc requests as needed.
