About The Position

Garney Construction is seeking a Pipelayer in King, NC. This role involves assembling, installing, and repairing underground pipes and fittings, including metallic, plastic, ductile iron, steel, and concrete pipes for water, sewer, and drain systems. The Pipelayer will prepare the work area, assist equipment operators, backfill trenches, and set up and work with pipe lasers and transits. Responsibilities also include locating and marking pipe positions, joining pipes using various methods, testing for leaks, and measuring/cutting pipes. The role also requires promoting Garney's goals and philosophies.

Requirements

Previous experience with pipe laying.
Two years of experience installing large diameter pipes for water, sewer, storm drain.
Must be willing to complete trainings and certifications provide by Garney, such as Rigging and Signaling Certification, Confined Space Training Certification, and OSHA 10 hour.
Must be willing to travel and work overtime.

Responsibilities

Prepare the area in which pipe will lay by directing trenching and grading.
Perform functions of a Laborer as required.
Assist equipment Operators in the placement of pipe.
Direct equipment Operators with hand signals.
Backfill around pipe using hand tools.
Set-up and work with pipe lasers and transits.
Locate and mark the correct position of pipe and fittings in an underground trench.
Assemble and install valves, fitting and pipe composed of metal, PVC, ductile and concrete.
Joins pipes by use of screws, bolts, fittings, solder, and plastic solvent cement.
Test pipes for leakage.
Measures and cuts pipe.
Promote Garney Goals and Philosophies.
