About The Position

Perform pipefitting job assignments according to MTech Mechanical safety standards and guidelines, and within budgetary constraints. This position is a field-based role that requires the team member to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme temperatures. The role may also involve working at heights. The employee will regularly be required to lift, pull, and push materials and equipment, have full range of mobility, reach overhead, and perform a full range of physical activity including stooping, standing, bending, kneeling, squatting, climbing, and walking for extended periods. Specific tasks include threading, cutting, welding, brazing, soldering, and assembling pipe and duct work, as well as operating various hand and power tools. Good hearing and vision are necessary for communication and safety. The job involves handling heavy materials and working on uneven surfaces, elevated platforms, and in confined areas.

Requirements

  • 4-year apprenticeship certificate or 4 years of field experience
  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of pipefitting, construction practice, and safety procedures
  • Working knowledge of all relevant national and local codes and company and industry standards
  • Must possess and maintain licenses that are required in the jurisdictions that you are working
  • Reliable transportation to and from work required

Responsibilities

  • Meet all requirements of a 4-year Apprentice.
  • Possess knowledge of all tools, equipment, and skills necessary for the complete installation of projects common to the HVAC/piping industry.
  • Possess the tools as required by the company.
  • Direct the activities of field crew member(s) in accordance with job schedules and priorities as coordinated with project manager/customer/general contractor and field foreman as applicable.
  • Submit daily job progress reports to supervisors as required.
  • Order stock or fabricated materials as far in advance as possible either personally or through site foreman to ensure completion of assigned tasks.
  • Ensure physical jobsite organization and housekeeping to maintain a safe professional work area.
  • Ensure safe operation and maintenance of company equipment as well as monitoring the use and timely return of rented equipment.
  • Accurately account for labor hours to the accounting department, material sheets, and change orders, etc.
  • Provide instruction and on-the-job training of apprentices/crew members, with an emphasis on safety.
  • Obtain and maintain necessary licensing/certification for performing work in areas where such is required.
  • Maintain knowledge of local/national codes and industry standards, and ensure that all necessary inspections are made through all phases of work.
  • Support the total quality effort and identify and respond to the needs of internal and external customers 100% of the time.
  • Work within the guidelines of the safety and employee policy.
  • All other duties as assigned within the Piping Department.
